The volunteer program at Mercy Medical Center
Merced offers community members an opportunity to enrich their
lives by giving their time and talents to serve others. Our
dedicated volunteers work throughout the hospital adding a personal
touch to patient care.
Volunteers at Mercy are members of the Mercy
family. By donating your time, you will have an opportunity to meet
people with similar interests, and get the satisfaction of knowing
you are filling an important need in our community.

History
The volunteer program began on November 9, 1970. There were 24
charter members under the guidance of the first president Nancy
Crane. Over time, the group has grown, with the combining of
Community Campus on April 1, 2001 putting the program at over 150
members. Since the group's inception, the volunteers have donated
over 1 million hours of service to Mercy Hospital. Through their
gift shop, the group purchases equipment for the hospital.
Active
Members
Volunteers at Mercy are individuals who provide a variety of
services in the hospital. Active members contribute a minimum of
three hours a week and attend one reorientation per year and
complete additional annual training requirements as necessary for
their work assignments.

Student
Volunteers
The Student Volunteer
Program is designed for high school students who are at least
15-1/2 years of age. These volunteers serve primarily as
receptionists at the Information Desk. Student volunteers are
required to have permission from parent or guardian, 2 letters of
recommendation and donate 3 hours each week to the hospital.
How to Become a
Mercy Hospital Volunteer
You can
make a difference at Mercy by volunteering your time. The hospital
is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so there are times
available to fit almost anyone's schedule. Call the volunteer desk
