Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) is the official health care provider
for the
San Francisco Giants
at Pacific Bell
Park. Both organizations share a strong commitment to
community and have built an unprecedented partnership
developing on-site health care facilities at the new ballpark
making the Giants the first major league baseball team to
house a community health center that serves the surrounding
neighborhood. The CHW Bay Area Health Center provides first
aid services for fans attending games and operates as a
training and rehabilitation facility for the Giants.
Additionally, CHW provides health care services to major and
minor league players as well as the Giants organization. In
2001, CHW and the Giants launched a comprehensive public
access automated external defibrillator (AED) program at
Pacific Bell Park. AEDs are small, easy-to-use, portable
devices that provide definitive treatment for sudden cardiac
arrest, one of the country's leading medical emergencies and
causes of death. Sports arenas are one of the top five places
where sudden cardiac arrest occurs. This latest initiative
has the effect of creating an overall network of safety for
cardiac arrest victims within Pacific Bell Park.
