John Paik-Tesch, M.D.,

Dr. Paik-Tesch began teaching at Mercy Merced after finishing his residency here at the medical center. He graduated from the medical school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and completed a fellowship in faculty development at the UC San Francisco.
James R. Rabago, M.D., Faculty Physician

Dr. Rabago attended medical school at the University of California at Davis and completed his residency training here at Mercy Medical Center Merced. After he completed his residency training, he decided to stay on as a faculty member. This will be his 14th year.
Theresa Schill, M.D., Faculty Physician

• Obstetrics
Dr. Schill joined the faculty after completing her residency at Mercy Merced in 1991. She earned her medical degree from the UC, San Diego.
Charlie L. Kano, M.D., Faculty Physician

• Family Medicine
Dr. Kano received his undergraduate degree from the UC Davis and his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his residency training at Mercy Merced in 1994 and decided to stay on as a faculty member. He has also completed a fellowship in Faculty Development at the UC San Francisco.
L. Thomas Fife, M.D., Faculty Internist

• Infectious Disease
Dr. Fife is a native of California. He was born and raised in Berkeley, and spent his undergraduate years at Brigham Young University and UC Berkeley. He received his MD from UC San Francisco and then entered an internal medicine residency at UC Irvine and finished up there with a two year fellowship in Infectious Diseases and has been certified with advanced qualifications in Geriatric Medicine.
Albert P. Col, M.D.,
Faculty Physician

• Treadmill Testing
Dr. Col graduated with a medical degree from USC in 1986 and went on to complete his family practice residency here at Merced. His professional interests include sports medicine (Dr. Col has completed the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports medicine), dermatology and obstetrics.
Timothy S. Johnston, M.D., Pharm.D., Faculty Physician

• Practice Management
Dr. Johnston graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1985 and completed his family practice residency here at Merced. He serves as the managing partner of the faculty private practice group.
Len Perkinson, M.D., Faculty Physician

• Maternity Care
• Obstetrics
• Sports Medicine
Dr. Perkinson graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 1996. He joined the faculty in 2003 after completing his residency in Salinas, California and an OB fellowship at the Natividad Medical Center. He comes highly trained and has lots of energy.
Isaac Kim, M.D., Faculty Physician

• Hospice and Palliative Care
Dr. Kim came to our residency for the opportunity to teach and maintain a private practice in a community where the family physician plays a prominent role in the delivery of quality health care. Since his medical student days he has been drawn to family medicine for its emphasis on comprehensive, practical, and patient-centered medicine.
