Brian K. Sugimoto, M.D., Faculty Physician

Dr. Sugimoto completed his family practice residency at Mercy Merced in 1996, serving as the chief resident his third year. He graduated from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine in 1992 and joined the faculty upon completion of his residency. His interests include computers and obstetrics.
Najeeb Ansari, M.D., Faculty Pediatrician

Dr. Ansari completed his medical school at T.N.M.C./B.Y.L. Nair Hospital in Bombay, India in 1992 and a rotation internship in 1993. He attended Texas Tech University in El Paso for his Pediatric training. He joined the faculty in 2003 and has enjoyed the relative peace that the small town of Merced has to offer.
Frank Baudino, M.D., Faculty Physician

Dr. Baudino attended medical school at the University of California School of Medicine, Davis. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Mercy Merced in 1981. He spent six months in Sudan working with Doctors without Borders and has participated in volunteer work in Peru, Romania, India and Tanzania. His avocations include photography, travel, reading, singing, and playing the piano.
Jared A. Paskin, M.D.,

Dr. Paskin graduated from Wake Forest University Medical School in 1980. He completed his residency in Family Medicine in Merced, California in 1985. He has been in private practice in Merced for 17 years before joining the Faculty in 2000. Dr. Paskin enjoys training young, energetic family doctors. He spends his free time with his family, including 3 grandchildren. He enjoys traveling, weight training, swimming and the outdoors.

Jim McDiarmid, Ph.D., Faculty Psychologist

Dr. McDiarmid lived in Australia and New Zealand teaching in a boarding school and working on oilrigs, sheep stations and at Outward Bound. He joined the faculty in 1987 as the director of behavioral medicine. He has extensive experience in a variety of clinical settings, including schools, a prison, a community mental health clinic, a drug/alcohol rehabilitation program, a VA hospital and a pediatric department in a teaching hospital. His areas of interest include cross cultural medicine, bioethics, the doctor-patient relationship, and listening. Since UC Merced opened in 2006, Dr. McDiarmid has been a lecturer in clinical psychology. He also works with Healthy House, whose mission is to improve the health of such ethnic groups as Latinos, Hmong, Mien and Sikhs. Dr. McDiarmid enjoys all sports, especially the outdoor ones such as skiing and backpacking.
