Third Year Residents
Sharmin S. Qureshi, M.D.
From an early age I noticed that I was not only compassionate towards others, but was also able to relate to people at all levels in their happiness as well as sadness. Being able to feel people’s pain and a strong desire to alleviate this pain led me to the field of medicine. My medical journey started from San Francisco State University where I obtained an undergraduate degree in Health Education followed by an M.B.B.S. degree from India. Shortly after returning to US from India, I joined the research team at Stanford University/Veteran’s Affairs in Palo Alto, California to conduct studies in sedation protocol. I like to work hard with determination to achieve positive results. Currently I am finishing up my first year in the Family Medicine Residency program at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. My excitement in starting my second year at Mercy Medical Center is two folds, because not only will I be working with a great team of physicians, but will also be closer to my wonderful and supportive husband who lives in the bay area.

After graduating in February 2006, my husband and I moved to the bay area where I worked at Stanford University for one year running clinical trials for the Stanford Cancer Center. Originally from the Central Valley, I had always planned to come back to the area. In July 2007, my husband, beautiful daughter, Sophia Michelle and I moved to Merced.
