The radiology department operates 1 digital mammography room, 2 general radiology rooms and 1 ultrasound room. All radiology technologists are licensed and the department is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The radiology department performs over 500 mammograms each month. A CAT scanner and an MRI scanner are also available as well as Electrocardiograms (EKGs).
The Surgery department is accredited by the Joint Commission. There are 3 operating rooms, equipped with the latest surgical technology are available for a variety of surgical procedures. Our team of local physicians perform multi-speciality surgical procedures including Ophthalmology, ENT, General, GYN, Orthopedics, Urology, Podiatry and Dental. A caring staff of Registered Nurses and Surgical Technologists provide top-notch quality care to approximately 200 patients a month who visit the department for procedures such as cataract extractions, breast biopsies, knee arthroscopies and hernia repairs. Because of the nature of outpatient surgery, family members are an important part of care. Relatives are able to accompany the patient into the pre-operative room and are joined with the patient in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit following the procedure.
The Mercy Outpatient Center Endoscopy department has four fully equipped Endoscopy suites with the latest in Pentax Video fiber-optic equipment. They serve our community by diagnosing and treating problems of the gastrointestinal tract. We have completely remodeled the Dominican Campus area and are now able to transfer computerized images for instant access for physician diagnosis. The staff can now view the procedure easily with the physician and a picture can be printed to document in the chart and show the patient. Bronchoscopies, a visualization of the throat and lungs through a scope, are also performed in this lab. Mercy was the first in Merced to have the video technology for this procedure. Endoscopy services are also available at the Community Campus on 13th street.
