Surgical Services at Mercy Medical Center
The Surgery Department at Mercy has six state-of-the-art operating room suites, and they perform an average of 350 procedures a month.
General surgery procedures completed at Mercy include anything from a simple hernia repair to the high tech Lap Choles. We have the latest generation of scopes and equipment with which to remove a gall bladder. As is standard across the country, we rarely fully open the abdomen to perform this procedure, but rather operate through a scope, making several small incisions in the abdomen; frequently called "Band-Aid surgery" or "minimally invasive surgery."
Orthopedic surgery includes everything from a child's broken bone to the hip or knee that needs replacing. Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) services at Mercy advance as we continue to purchase state of the art technology. Gynecological procedures have taken a similar leap. Urology services continue to provide a full range of Urologic procedures as well as Lithotripsy, and Laser surgical procedures. Surgery department also supports cardiac services by implanting pacemakers. Mercy also provides the ability to perform a variety of thoracic, vascular, and cosmetic procedures.
In following Mercy's commitment to those we serve, our physicians and staff continually attend conferences to learn the latest techniques available.
