Each year, approximately six million Americans will suffer from chronic wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory problems and many other conditions, but there is hope for these patients. The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art, outpatient clinical wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Any patient with a wound that has not started to heal in two weeks or is not completely healed in six weeks may be a candidate for advance wound therapies.
The staff and physicians are the Center specialize in the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds and utilize the newest clinical tools and clinical practices available in wound healing.
Some indications for wound therapy are: Pressure ulcers Surgical Wounds Diabetic ulcers, Vasculitis Neuropathic ulcers, Burns Ischemic ulcers, Peristomal skin irritations and Venous insufficiency.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a therapy in which the patient breathes 100% oxygen while enclosed in a pressurized chamber at greater-than-normal atmospheric pressure. While breathing pure oxygen, the patient’s blood plasma becomes saturated, carrying 15 to 20 times the normal amount of oxygen to the body’s tissues. The ultimate result is the body’s natural wound-healing mechanisms, which are oxygen dependent, are able to function more efficiently. About 18% of wound care patients treated may be candidates for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
