The Respiratory Care Department is a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation. We maintain at least 2 Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) on the premises at all times. All RCPs are licensed through the state and most are Registered Respiratory Therapists. We provide all general modalities of adult and pediatric therapy including aerosol, chest phsio-therapy and oxygen. We provide diagnostic assistance with both screening and complete pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas testing. Staff members attend all C-section and high-risk deliveries. We have a level 1 nursery and assist in the ventilation of preemie and resuscitated babies and prepare them for transport to hospitals with level 3 nurseries.

We have an active 10 bed CPU and average about 2-4 Ventilators at any given time. Our Emergency Department is quite active and we are involved with all resuscitation, ventilation and aerosol therapy.

We are developing an in patient pulmonary rehabilitation program in association with a local rehabilitation hospital. The program is expected to begin in April 2000.
